Indian Nobel Prize winners

History of Nobel Prize 

Alfred Nobel was born on 21 October 1833 in Stockholm, Sweden, into a family of engineers. He was a chemist, engineer, and inventor. In 1894,  Nobel purchased the Bofors iron and steel mill, which he made into a major armaments manufacturer. Nobel wrote several wills during his lifetime. He composed the last over a year before he died, signing it at the Swedish–Norwegian Club in Paris on 27 November 1895. To widespread astonishment, Nobel's last will specified that his fortune be used to create a series of prizes for those who confer the "greatest benefit on mankind" in physics, chemistry, peace, physiology or medicine, and literature.

The Nobel Prize ,  is a set of annual international awards bestowed in a number of categories by Swedish and Norwegian committees in recognition of cultural and/or scientific advances. The will of the Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel established the prizes in 1895. The prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace were first awarded in 1901. The related Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences was created in 1968. The various prizes are awarded yearly. Each winner receives a gold medal, Certificate and a sum of money, which is decided by the Nobel Foundation.


Indian Nobel Prize winners

1. Kailash Satyarthi won the Nobel Peace Prize 2014 at his Bachpan Bachao Aandolan in New Delhi

2. Venkatraman Ramakrishnan won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2009, along with Thomas A. Steitz and Ada E. Yonath, “for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome”

3. V.S.Naipaul Writer. Won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2001 for his entire body of work which “unites perceptive narrative and incorruptible scrutiny in works that compel us to see the presence of suppressed histories” says a statement from the Nobel committee.

4. Amartya Sen Economist. Won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1998 for work on developmental economics.

5. Mother Teresa Christian missionary. Won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for work among Kolkata’s poor.

6. Hargovind Khurana Biologist. Won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1968 for interpreting the genetic code and analysing its function in protein synthesis.

7. Subramanyan Chandrasekhar Physicist. Won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1983 for work on theoretical studies of the physical processes of importance to the structure and evolution of stars.

8. Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman Physicist. Won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930 for work on radiation.

9. Rabindranath Tagore Writer. Won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 for Gitanjali, an anthology of poems.

Unix/Linux file permissions

Unix file permissions Notation

There are two type of file permission notation Symbolic and Numeric.

Symbolic notation 

Unix permissions are represented by several ways. In which user will know the access permission of particular files and directories.

There are Three permission triads.

 first triad for => what the owner can do
 Second triad for => what the group members can do
 Third triad => what other users can do
 r means readable
 w means writable
 x means executable

 r is for reading is permitted otherwise - if it is not allow.
 w is for writing is permitted, - if it is not allow.
 x is for execution is permitted, - if it is not allow.


Numeric notation

Numeric Unix permissions notation is an octal (base-8). This notation includes of at least three digits. The component of the permissions is owner, group, and others respectively.
The read bit adds 4 to its total   (in binary 100)
The write bit adds 2 to its total  (in binary 010)
The execute bit adds 1 to its total (in binary 001)
